David Harvie is UCU Commons’ candidate for Honorary Treasurer of UCU

UCU Commons is delighted to support David Harvie in his candidacy for the role of Honorary Treasurer of our Union.

David is an expert in finance and political economy. He worked as an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester Business School until, after 15 years of service, he was targeted for redundancy by the University as part of their so-called ‘Shaping for Excellence’ programme. He is currently working as a casualised teaching fellow at the University of Leeds.

He has been an active member of UCU and a campaigner on a range of issues for many years. He was a key member of the branch committee at UCU Leicester serving as a negotiator, communications officer and vice chair, in the latter role for only eleven days before his redundancy.

David lives in Leeds, has a teenage daughter and participates in many local political projects and community groups, including as district treasurer for Woodcraft Folk Leeds.
