As you may know, an election is currently being held for a vacancy on UCU’s National Executive Committee for an HE representative on London and the East.
UCU Common’s candidate for that vacancy is Robin Clarke, and we encourage you to vote for him, and ask any colleagues you have in that region to vote for him too.
Rob is a long-standing member of UCU, having worked in academic and professional services roles in both pre- and post-92 institutions for well over a decade. He is also an experienced branch activist and branch committee member.
In the video above, Rob outlines his three key priorities for UCU. In brief, these are…
- More and better strategic planning, so that we consider exactly when and how we can deploy our industrial muscle to best effect.
- Increasing membership, so that we have more people taking action, giving us a better chance of success.
- Reviewing UCU’s democratic structures to ensure that we can engage with more of our union’s membership and represent their wishes accordingly on UCU’s decision-making bodies.
You can find out more about Rob either by watching the video or visiting Rob’s web pages at www.ucucommons.org/rob.
The election is run by single transferable vote and we recommend giving your second preference vote to Michael Abberton.
If you are eligible to vote in this election (members in HE in London and the East), please do so and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
In solidarity,
UCU Commons
